This cloud of gas and dust is full of bubbles, which are inflated by wind and radiation from massive young stars.

Our teasing Solar System

Solar system formation has been difficult to recreate in computer models. Anders Johansen from Lund University, in collaboration with colleagues, found a solution a decade ago. If true, one might fear that our Solar System is a rare bird among the stars - and that it can be extremely difficult to find habitable planets similar to Earth.

Here Anders Johansen, Professor of Astrophysics from Lund University, will be interviewed by science journalist Henrik Prætorius from Science Stories.
