The first life

Life has existed here on Earth since almost immediately after it was formed. That is, shortly after the soil cooled and water formed oceans and seas. Life has had a decisive influence on how our Earth appears today. Everything we see around us has been influenced by life.

So, how old is life here on Earth? How do we know that the old-fashioned signs of life are really traces of life? How do we know how old these tracks are? How have the conditions been for the formation of life 3.5 to 4 billion years ago here on Earth? And, how has life since shaped our planet?

From Science Salon #2, Peder Worning talks with Professor Minik Rosing (in Danish) about the importance of life in the formation and evolution of our planet Earth.
